Situations where people may feel excluded:
- Card trading.
- Trading of more serious items.
- Being left out of an activity or not invited somewhere.
- Going to a film with brother and not asking a friend.
- Black/other ethnic child feeling left out of a group of predominantly white kids
What people do when they are watching something they’ve been excluded from:
- Discovering it on social media
- Stumble upon friends doing something they’ve arranged without telling
- Debate or ambivalence within yourself. Looking into distance – look away from object of envy
- Pretend disinterest – or create hostility.
- Do something stupid out of anger or frustration:
- Making a spectacle of someone
- See someone and confront them
- Leave and avoid the situation
- Continue watching from a distance
What groups do when an outsider appears as if they want to join
- Most of the group remain quiet – send an emissary
- Talk to each other skeptically
- Carry on as if they’re not there
- Invite him to join the activity
- Some people are hostile, but others are inviting – there is disagreement – schism
SCENE 1:
Outsider watching group revising/eating/playing – from a distance. Over the shoulder type shot.

SCENE 2:
This time filmed with the group in the foreground who then leave together – one person remains and the outsider approaches. Friendly conversation – they are old friends, but one has started spending more time with the larger group.
SCENE 3:
Outsider plays skateboarding game/ Tech Deck.
SCENE 4:
Group actually skateboarding.
SCENE 5:
Ending options:
- Leaves alone
- Leaves alone but one guy from the main group breaks away and catches up with him – but they end up walking in opposite directions with a broken teK DeK symbolising his letting go of the desire.
- Skate park: A skater from the group gives the outsider a nod and gestures for him to join.
SCENE 1: Shows scrumpled up piece of paper showing the name of the movie with doodles or cartoons around it. (Some sort of animation where it scrumples and unscrumples.)
Outsider watching group revising and eating while on their phones talking about the popular music songs and how many followers and likes on Facebook or Instagram or whatever. – from a distance. Over the shoulder type shot.

// Scene 1C Antagonist makes really bad jokes and the group all laugh and applaud him as if they were really good jokes. (Basically hes the coolest guy to be with.)
SCENE 2:
This time filmed with the group in the foreground who then leave together – one person squints his eyes and realizes that the outsider was his old friend and the outsider approaches. Friendly conversation – they are old friends, but one has started spending more time with the larger group. During this the antagonist makes a reference to a geeky movie or game/comic that the old friend doesn’t remember or understand where he is coming from that , they were familiar with prior to the departure.
SCENE 3:
Outsider watches skateboarding videos while listening to a popular music song while and then fails to reenact the trick that was seen in the video.
// Scene 3A he looks in pain as he clutches his leg and then looks past the camera where it turns to a shot of the group skateboarding.
SCENE 4:
Group actually skateboarding yet one inside the group trips over and the group all laugh and help him back up.
SCENE 5:
Ending :
The Antagonist (Outsider) gets up and struggles to pick up his board.
The scene goes to the group where the leader of the group<<< (very faintly show this). The leader talks to the group and asks them if they want to smoke weed or steal from a shop or some other idea where the old friend makes an excuse and doesn't like the idea of them doing immoral things so he departs and catches up with the Outsider (that is startled at his actions) and makes a reference to a comic or video game that only they would know about and they both laugh together and the outsider places the board down or gives it to a homeless man or child (I don't know?)
then the shot follows the two companions which it then blurs out.
